
Mary started her engineering career in Colombia. Following graduate school here, she accepted a position at Frito Lay North America (FLNA) Corporate office in Plano, TX in the newly formed division for Transformation & Strategy. Mary worked in advanced seasoning application, leading pilot testing and field execution. She worked in the first FLNA pilot picking center, leading testing plans and system analysis as well as designing and implementing two pilots. Mary led the service center design for Sao Paulo at Pepsico Do Brasil. Returning to process engineering, she led the design and start-up of multiple Cheetos lines. In 2017, Mary came back to her passion in environmental work joining the FLNA Sustainability team as Senior Principal Engineer. She is currently the technical lead for FLNA water and wastewater focusing on water reduction and reuse projects.
Mary served on the department’s Industrial and Professional Advisory Council from 2011 to 2014. She was the PepsiCo Texas chapter cochair for Million Women Mentor-MWM from 2020 to 2022. Mary currently serves as a lead for the MWM early career program as well as mentoring PepsiCo employees and high school students. She has been part of Toastmasters for 20 years where she especially enjoys supporting others. Mary loves traveling, scuba diving, running, and working out.
