After serving four years in chemical warfare service in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, Mr. Black joined DuPont at a new nylon plant being constructed in Orange, Texas. At DuPont he was in process control work designing and troubleshooting process control systems. He also organized and operated a training school for instrument mechanics.
In 1950, he was transferred to Victoria, Texas, to hire and train instrument mechanics for a new plant being constructed there. At the Victoria plant, he designed the control systems for many new additions to the plant and was promoted to Instrument Department Superintendent. When the plant later established an Engineering Department responsible for all designs, Black was promoted to Engineering Department Superintendent.
After leaving DuPont, Black started a company designing and installing post tension reinforcing for residential and light commercial buildings.

Mr. Black passed away July 3, 2008. He will be missed.
