After graduation, Brent joined Walk, Haydel & Associates in New Orleans, LA, before moving to El Dorado, AR, as a Process Engineer with Lion Oil Company. At Lion, he gained experience in refining and project development, becoming Manager of the refinery’s Process Engineering Department. In 2006, Brent joined Valero Energy Corporation in St. Charles LA as Technical Services Manager.  He progressed through positions in Engineering and Operations management, specifically involving management of the refinery Hydrocracking and Coking complexes. He is currently Director of Engineering and Project Development, responsible for the refinery engineering, project execution, and quality control functions. Brent is a resident of Destrehan, Louisiana and is a board member of the United Way of St. Charles Parish.  He considers his greatest accomplishment finding another Arkansas Chemical Engineer who would marry him.  He and his wife Holly have two children, Philip and Thomas.
