Jerry’s career as a Quality Assurance professional developed through successive assignments with increasing responsibilities (from Quality Engineer to VP of Quality) to ensure the safety and efficacy of medical devices and drugs. Jerry received his undergraduate degree in 1983 and continued with two years of post-graduate work in biotechnology research, and he credits this background with getting started in the field of medical devices and drugs. His greatest gifts from college years were meeting his wife (Susan), establishing lifelong friends and beginning to learn the predictive value of establishing and controlling processes – which he found central to managing quality assurance. Throughout his career, he has exercised his technical and leadership skills in the design and manufacturing of durable, disposable and implantable medical devices and IV drugs: while in a wide variety of company sizes, complexities and cultures. This included positions with Baxter Healthcare, EV3, Edwards Lifesciences and Validant.
Jerry is now a consultant – combining and applying past experiences to help others while continuing to feed his passion for learning. He is working with companies who seek to improve their control and compliance systems in medical device product design and manufacturing, including product/process control and validation, regulatory compliance, technical management, culture creation and organization development.
After living around the US, Jerry and Susan have moved back to Flippin, Arkansas. They have raised two amazing and wonderfully talented daughters, each of which are establishing careers that feed their own passions.
