Mr. Black began his career in 1960 as a Technical Department Engineer at DuPont’s plant in Orange, Texas. In 1966, he joined Merichem Company, a privately held chemical and refinery services company located in Houston, Texas. Merichem recovers marketable chemicals from petroleum refinery spent caustics, and designs, manufactures and markets refinery fuels product treating equipment. After serving Merichem in several manufacturing and management positions, Black lead Merichem’s entry into the naphthenic acid business. He retired in 2000 as the President of Merichem Chemicals & Refinery Services, LLC.

Black and his wife Betty currently live in Georgetown, Texas, where he continues a long held interest in general aviation as a flight instructor.
