Dr. Gaddy began his career as a chemical engineer with the Ethyl Corp in Baton Rouge, LA in 1955. He moved to Arkla Chemical Corp in 1959 and remained there until 1966 when he began his academic career at the University of Tennessee. Dr. Gaddy later held several positions at the University of Missouri-Rolla before joining the University of Arkansas faculty in 1980 as professor and department head of chemical engineering. While serving as department head he founded Bioengineering Resources Inc., a small business dedicated to commercialization of biomass conversion to chemical and energy and served as president and CEO. He was appointed emeritus distinguished professor of chemical engineering in 1989. Dr. Gaddy held memberships in AIChE, ACS, American Society for Engineering Education, Tau Beta Pi, Omega Chi Epsilon, Sigma Xi, and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. He had over 500 technical publications and presentations and held 30 patents.

Dr. Gaddy passed away January 29, 2019. He will be missed.
