During his time at the U of A, John had three very interesting summer jobs at International Paper in Pine Bluff, Ethyl Corp (now Albemarle) in Baton Rouge, La and Dow Chemical in Freeport, Texas. John joined E after graduation in 1976, and during his 36 years with the company, he has held several technical and management roles, including: Process Design, Plant Technical Services, Process Development and Process Evaluation. John is also the holder of 11 US patents in the fields of solids purification and novel reaction technology. John is currently the Research and Development (R&D) Director for Albemarle’s $700M Fine Chemistry Division where he leads the efforts for all new and custom manufacturing projects for that business unit. In this role, John oversees lab scale process development, cost evaluation for new projects, and technology transfers from R&D to commercial facilities on projects ranging from small quantity new drug production to large volume industrial products in locations throughout the world. John and his wife Maria have two children, Ami and Stuart.
