Mr. Alford joined Magnolia Petroleum Company immediately after college and spent 9 years in production operations in various locations in Texas until 1959. He spent most of his career with Mobil Oil’s International Division, living in Venezuela for several years before being transferred to Mobil’s Headquarters in New York in 1965.
Alford was secunded to the Iranian Oil Consortium in Tehran, Iran in 1972 to establish a new Gas Operations Department. He subsequently moved to Indonesia as Engineering Manager during the development of a large natural gas field in Sumatra. He became Manufacturing Manager for the Arun LNG plant in 1978. In 1980, he moved back to New York to manage a task force for an LNG project in West Africa. Upon completion, he became Production Coordinator for Mobil Indonesian Operations in New York.
Alford retired in Asheville North Carolina in 1994, and is currently engaged in real estate activities, including promoting “Green” building projects.
