Paul’s career as a process safety leader has resulted from his experiences at Chevron Chemical, Mobil / ExxonMobil Chemical, Koch Industries, Cargill, and Ascend Performance Materials. Following graduation, Paul moved to Orange, TX, as a product and application development engineer with Chevron Chemical. Over the next several years, Paul held a variety of positions in process engineering, operations and turnaround management. During his time as a member of the global process improvement team at ExxonMobil Chemical, Paul developed a passion for driving improvements through process safety, which also reduced environmental impact and improved reliability and quality.
In 2011, Paul became the Director of Process Safety and led the transformation the process safety program to focus on value creation through reducing harm to people, the environment, and assets. He established a process safety professional development program for new chemical engineering graduates, many of whom are now in process safety and operations leadership at a variety of companies. Paul later joined Cargill as their Global Process Safety Leader for the oilseeds and refining divisions, providing direction and oversight to over 100 sites in six continents. Most recently, Paul accepted his current position as the Corporate Process Safety Leader for Ascend Performance Materials, a leading manufacturer of Nylon 6,6. He continues to lead transformative process safety initiatives they focus on value creation first, through a vision of “Keeping the tiger in the cage.”
Paul and his wife Beth reside in Gulf Breeze, FL. They have three children, one daughter and two sons.
