Ralph L. Baker

BSChE 1952

Mr. Baker spent his entire professional career of 37 years with Union Carbide. Starting as a production engineer, he moved into marketing and business management, and spent the last half of his career in various executive positions in the U.S. and abroad. In 1988, he retired as Vice President of Energy Systems in Union Carbide’s Linde Division.

After retirement, Baker attended an oil painting class out of curiosity. Since then, he has been an enthusiastic oil and acrylic landscape painter. Out of a desire to stay in touch with fellow Carbide employees, Baker founded a Houston organization of retirees, of which he remains a Director.
