Robert K. (Bob) Poag, BSChE 1983, MSChE 1984, PhD 1987, 2023 Inductee

Following their undergraduate studies, they both attended the University of Tulsa, where Shack pursued a master’s degree in chemical engineering, focusing on refinery technology. Upon completion, he joined CITGO Petroleum in Lake Charles, Louisiana, as a Process Engineer in the Delayed Coking Units. Before departing CITGO, he held the position of Unit Supervisor in the Operations Department.

In 2004, Shack and his wife, Kristi, moved to St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands, where Shack took a consulting job with Polaris Engineering.  He worked on many refinery projects, ranging from economics and planning to Process Safety Management.  In 2018, he changed his focus to help co-found a new energy company in the Caribbean.

Today, Shack is the CEO of Triton Energy, Inc.  Triton is a full-service power provider to resorts, hotels, and small industrials.  With operational experience throughout the Caribbean, Triton delivers turnkey, off-grid solutions including design-build, fuel sourcing, financing, operations, and maintenance.

After 20 years in the Caribbean, Shack, Kristi, and their two daughters moved back to Arkansas.  They love being closer to the University and their families.  One of their favorite activities has been supporting the Lady Razorback Soccer Team.
