Robert K. (Bob) Poag, BSChE 1983, MSChE 1984, PhD 1987, 2023 Inductee

Terry began his career as an Environmental Engineer with Dow Chemical in Freeport, TX, with responsibility for the Air Emissions Inventory and State Pollution Prevention Plan for Texas Operations.  He later accepted the role of Gulf Coast HCl Integration Engineer for Dow’s Environmental Operations Business.  Terry’s additional assignments included Improvement Engineer for Dow Agrosciences and Project Manager/Six Sigma Black Belt for Dow Polypropylene.  During this time, he also served as a member of the U of A Dow recruiting team and one of the first Implementation Leaders for the Dow African American Network. From 2011 through 2014, Terry and his family lived in Angola, Africa, where he volunteered at a local church and sponsored expatriate visits to provide aid to children.  He also worked for Chevron as a Lean Sigma Advisor for the South African Business Unit in Angola.  In 2015, Terry joined AkzoNobel (later Nouryon) as a Project Manager and later as Engineering Manager.  In 2022, he returned to Dow as a Site Logistics Operations Leader.

Terry is an associate pastor at his church and a past board member of Bethel’s Christian Academy. He is a founding board member of the Mentors of Brazoria County and a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated.  Terry enjoys mentoring and helping others reach their highest potential.
